Idk to me Doom 2016 was the perfect blend of a good SciFi backstory (Mars, Argent Energy, ...) and a biblical epic plotline.

Doom 2016 imo was the second best doom of all time. Great reboot. I remember being so blown away by the graphics the first time I played it.

This whole mindset that the franchise should stay stagnant is old troon coded because it reduces any possible levels of creativity and innovations

I agree, while I do find Eternal more fun to play, I like 2016s aesthetic more, it feels more “raw” in a way

2016 has a great Scifi/light horror blend whereas Eternal is much more cartoonish especially with the new demon designs and sound effects, but it makes more sense for Eternal to be more aesthetically different because the game is much more fast paced and impactful whereas 2016 is just the classic Doom formula

The medieval aspect makes sense if you played Eternal and remember how the Slayer used to be apart of the Knight Sentinels

But yea I agree the jump can be hard getting used to, I played through Eternal twice and don’t understand anything about the lore or story at all still lol
