Not really related to looksmaxxing but I am pretty sure I have adhd (self diagnosed but I exhibit signs of mild adhd) or at least some issue with dopamine production/regulation. Is it worth looking into any of the following? Semax, Selank, Noopept, Cerebrolysin, or even Psilocybin? Please let me know if anyone has experience with any of these.
Also I'm too big of a pussy for any sort of amphetamine, don't think the sides are worth it for me.

None of those drugs/peptides will help you if you have ADHD

Get a diagnosis

ADHD is the result of a lack of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain

Stimulants directly rectify this

I've taken a lot of Psylocybin and it has tons of applications but it didn't cure my ADHD lol

What do you use ACD for?
There are many things you can use it for but I like the dopamine I get from Trk activation and then global BDNF potentiation from Trkb activation at high enough doses. It really helps mitigate my ADHD and also its a great mood boost and great for reforming habits. Experimenting with cycling it and will try sporadic high doses soon.

Your scared of amphetamines, but willing to try psilocybin. Are you literally insane? You'll risk having a nightmare trip which will leave you stuck in a flight or fight response, or get hallucinatory persistent perception disorder. I tried psilocybin to help with inhibition, because there's an absolutely retarded botb megathread about it, and I went through absolute agony. The thread recommended microdosing, but there's studies that show that's not more effective than placebo, so I took a larger dose, and I experienced the world in literal 2d. My sense of dimension was so skewed I felt absolutely trapped, but the come up and come down were joyful. Then I decided maybe halving the dose would help, but then the trip spontaneously spiked in intensity for no reason, and it was at the start of the trip, so I thought I was going to go beyond the agonizing 2d level sensory distortions, with extreme time dilution making minutes feel like hours, and I was left shaking in my bed for hours waiting for a peak that never came. Glutamate signalling is responsible for bad trips, and inhibition so it was paradoxical to do it for that purpose, but if you have low inhibition, and your good at controlling set and setting and measuring your dosage accurate, and doing all the necessary research, and sourcing them in a way that won't get you in trouble, then it's not a terrible idea, but even then the efficacy is over exaggerated, except if you ego death, which does have a sustained benefit on your life.

Good to know, I'll definitely do my research. I tried Adderall and liked it but still need to play around with it a little because I did IR which is too short for me. Also left me with a headache last time I did it. I'll prob get diagnosed and prescribed Adderall and see if it's good for me to use like once a week.
Didn't realize the risks of a bad trip are that real but even then I've heard psilocybin is not gonna leave long term effects, whereas I've heard the opposite about long term adderall use.
I'm not pretty low inhib but that causes me to procrastinate and avoid responsibilities.

Its been a week since the bad trip, I've had 3 panic attacks, because of the derealization it caused. The outside world doesn't feel real anymore like it did before, and it's the worst feeling. It's getting better though. I have severe inhibition issues so I was particularly susceptible to a bad trip. I get flashbacks to the panic, and trapped feeling I had during it. The random spike felt like being choked with this new intense internal tension, with loud ringing in my ears, which burst into the world morphing into this repetitive dark nightmare. Black was blacker than I've ever seen before. Like looking into a void. The strength of it hitting the back of my skull. Texting my friend I needed help, and thinking I'd be too inebriated to tell him in a few minutes. Hands jittering across the letters. Counting the seconds. Looking for external consistency like time to ground me back to reality, because I just didn't have the strength to face that monster again. Stuck into the present moment, with 0 ability to resort to memories, or intuitions. So no cognitive preplanning can save you. Your fully exposed. You'll literally want to die. You'll hate yourself so much for subjecting yourself to it when your in it. It's like being on fire. Id rather take meth than do that again. Comparing amphetamines to the horror of that seems so silly to me.

I'm also trying to optimize my brain, and have ADHD. Nicotine at a low dosage, and low frequency is literally the best. 2mg every 3 to 4 days will literally be more effective than any amphetamine, if you haven't blasted your tolerance. I take it in the form of lozenges. Caffeine's okay as well if you haven't destroyed your tolerance. Cardio is also really effective for me. Ive tried Ritalin, absolute dogshit. Very little evidence behind efficacy. I've tried vyvanse, which I guess is relatively comparable to Adderall. It wasn't too bad. My anxiety went up. I got fixated a little to easily, so transitioning between tasks was still difficult. I probably took too high of a dosages though. I'm going to try cerebrolysin soon. Therapy actually has more evidence behind its efficacy than any drug for ADHD as far as I know. Id also ask you to consider whether ADHD is the correct diagnosis, or addiction. Are you addicted to media or games or junk food. Try changing your diet. Or becoming abstinent from crap media. Environmental restriction is the easiest fix for me in terms of evoking change without demanding will, but it's hard to implement. I have a childs google account on my phone with restrictions, and I give the password to someone who can be responsible about giving it up, and I have set goals for abstinence. I also have an psychosomatic issue that caused lethargy, as. Tension type headaches. Things like chronic pain can hinder your functioning a lot. I've found heat or cold therapy works for that, literally just putting a hot waterbottle or ice pack at the top of the back of my neck, and the rest of my back and legs is a really strong analgesic. Learning to effectively negotiate with yourself. Accepting responsibilitys involving others so the social force can drive you as well. ADHD is a social construction relating to unhealthy behaviour within modern society, but it's probably society that's the issue not you. So try to change your environment to the best of your ability.

Thanks for the high effort info. I'm scared I'll get addicted to nicotine and don't wanna risk trying it if I can. I hate caffeine, has a very short effect and I crash really hard. You might be right that it's addiction rather than adhd. I'm in the process of quitting porn (been ~3 days), and working on cutting down on doomscrolling. I haven't been doomscrolling or on vid games too much this last week but it has been a problem in the past.
Can't exactly wait 3+ months for my brain to heal from porn abuse when I have homework and tests due in the short term though, so a short term fix will have to do for now.

You're willing to take Adderall ir, but are scared of nicotine addiction? You'd take non FDA approved nootropics before nicotine. Your sense of these substances is extremely disproportionate. As far as I know the addiction potential is higher for Adderall ir than nicotine. All I can say is I was scared to use nicotine as well, but if you immediately establish a healthy relationship with it, I feel like there's like no chance of ever becoming an addict. The most I ever felt was a mild compulsion to use it more than once ever 3 or 4 days when I have the like most overwhelming homework ever, and it's so mild and I'm so weary of addiction potential that I've never done that. I'm literally the most predisposed to addiction, and I never vape or smoke, but nicotine gum or lozenges or patches are literally like no addiction risk at all I feel like. 2mg is very low in the form of a lozenges. I wouldn't promote this if I thought it would get people addicted. It releases quite slowly so theirs probably more of a delayed gratification which explains why it's less addictive than smoking or vaping. You don't have to do it, but I'm telling you it's the best unless your a retard about it. Like I haven't taken it in 2 days, and nothing in my body is telling me to. I get pretty bad crashes off caffeine as well. I feel like it good if you use it well rested early in the day. Never felt more dialed in in my life then the second time I took nicotine. I had this huge project and I was able to get it all done in like 7 hours. Nicotine has been the nicest drug to me. Most discomfort was slight nausea at the start when my tolerance was so low. Only do it when you want to lock in though. It will literally feel like a limitless pill at the start. I've been using it for over 6 months now, it's not as effective as when I first started, but it's still just really helpful. Nicotine is bad for your skin and stuff like all stimulants I think, because of vasodilation, but I think the dose I take it that's relatively negligible

Thanks for the info. I definetely am not experienced in this field😅 I overestimate the addictiveness of nicotine because I see people get addicted to vapes (which are entirely different). Would a zyn be a good idea to possibly try in moderation? I used to drink 1-2x a week and developed 0 addiction and now I don't drink for several reasons. Also did the nicotine last for the full 7 hour project or was it just for 1-2 hours? Also I think I'll stay away from adderall for now. Tried it twice and didn't love it.

I'm not saying it's entirely non addictive, but basically is unless you intentionally abuse them. Zyns have too high nicotine dosage from what I remember. You still need to be careful with it. Nicotine in itself isn't healthy, but that shouldn't matter if you take as low a dose as I explained. Personally I think I can feel the nicotine for multiple hours like up to 4 or 5 maybe, or atleast I used to when I first started. I've only tried lozenges so far, so I can't say much outside of that. It dissolves very slowly for me which might why it lasts so long.
