I’m thinking about asking my surgeon for djs in hopes that it will help my severe tmj. I have no recession in my jaws, but the right side of my mouth closes before my left side. Could I get insurance to cover this?

maybe,if you tell them that you can barely eat food

It gets that bad sometimes, there are times where I don’t even want to open my mouth
you can get it easily, blame it on depression and that you can't eat food

thats really bad, do you think its worth it for cosmetic purposes like my upper and lower jaw is aligned and there's no pain or discomfort but it just looks so bad

Sure this is not a dental problem? They can intrude/extrude teeth to correct this kind of thing orthodontically

If you’re not recessed you won’t benefit from it much, I just have a flat maxilla so I’m hoping I can get insurance to pay for it

Not sure but I don’t think so, I had braces for just under 4 years and I’ve had a 3d X-ray of my entire skull. Orthos never mentioned anything abt my teeth

It's super invasive. Have you tried any less invasive treatments first?

Botox. Not very cost effective and I need to get it every few months, not too keen on getting botox for the rest of my life. Guards don’t help, my only other option are muscle relaxers.

I'm not very knowledgeable about TMJ but I'd exhaust all non-invasive options before going down the bimax route.
I know physical therapy is an option.

I’m gonna try everything before surgery but there are times where I struggle to eat so surgery may be my only option unfortunately

100%, couldnt even tell how bimax would provide a purpose to help the tmj pain

My thought process was thinking that bimax would fix my misaligned bite which is causing my tmj
