Once upon a time, Adobe was the undisputed king of creative software. It was called adopolopoly

but now it's stocks have plummeted and its going down more

All because of failed $20 billion acquisition of Figma which blocked by regulators over antitrust concerns. Costed Adobe a $1 billion breakup fee and allowed Figma to thrive going public last year with an initial peak market capitalization of $58 billion

People were also fed up of the Adobe subscription system and the privacy concerns and now Figma now dominates with 80% market share estimates. Adobe's position is even over brutal after discontinuing its competing XD tool. From an absolute monopoly to a loss leader

Hmm,.. our monopoly is failing, people dislike us, we are seen as a toll company that you have to pay for basic convenience instead of a company that's seen as helpful, What should we do??
I know, let's push MORE OF OUR PROPRIETARY SOFTWARE ON CONSUMERS

Do you have creative cloud subscription or pirated shit?

Iโ€™d be using a subscription and Iโ€™d be on photoshop mainly for illustration/digital painting

My guess is AI

Like 10 years ago folks would have to download Adobe in order to edit stuff now they just use AI Generator
which is vastly less complicated/cheaper

That's part of the reason too. Figma introduced Figma Make which integrated AI much better than what adobe failed to do.

There is an entire wiki section on r/piracy on how to pirate Adobe products. If thats how much effort it takes just to pirate then imagine how much people will love when competitors start catching up. They thought they would always be ahead, now they are biting their own fingers

All these companies with complex DRM like Oracle and Adobe seem like they have a more competent lawyers than developers

Their subscription model is pretty shitty ngl
But their apps are still unmoggable and industry leading I use Photoshop, after effects and premiere pro. I have tried other alternatives too but none come close
