What causes it and is there any way to fix the cause not just symptoms?

I know obviously lips get dry when the weather is dry and cold but can you make your body more resistant to that?

or olive oil believe it or not. (good mouthwash too)

u can use beef tallow or coconut oil, both quite the same. I do beef tallow as skin moisturizer and coconut oil on my lips

i had the same shit and its actually because i touched my lips to often with my tongue.
you know how you just lick your lips when theyre dry? dont do it, and they will regenerate so much faster for some reason.

I also noticed this, I also notice the skin becomes soft and almost gel like when in the healing process, so maybe licking your lips is licking off some type of protective layer needed for healing or smth

Yeah bro just dont put saliva on your lips, dont touch them, brush your lips with toothbrush you should be fine
