Alright, hear me out.
Everyone’s obsessed with that ultra-moisturized, glossy lip look. Vaseline, lip balm, oils... dudes walking around looking like they just licked a donut. But I think we’re missing something here.
Dry lips to a degree are actually appealing.
Here’s why.
First, they give off that effortless vibe.
Slight dryness says you’re not trying "too hard". It’s that “I woke up like this” energy. Girls notice that. It feels raw, masculine, unfiltered.
Second, it’s about contrast.
If your skin’s already glowing from moisturizer or sunscreen, matte lips balance it out. When everything’s shiny, it starts looking artificial. Like you’re trying to be a wax figure.
Third, there’s a ruggedness to it.
A bit of dryness gives off that “I’ve been out grinding all day” look. Wich is masculine. Not crusty just not polished to death.
And finally, mystery. Perfect lips can feel too curated.
Slight dryness adds a layer of unpredictability. Makes people wonder what you’re about. Why you’re not obsessing over every little detail like everyone else.
Obviously, don’t go full desert mode. No one wants cracked or bleeding lips. Keep them healthy.
Use Vaseline at night. Exfoliate if needed. But during the day? Let them breathe. Let them be matte. Let them speak for themselves.
Sometimes, less really is more.
Thoughts?
