I hate this stuff. Dogwood, I think it's called. It makes me very tired. Today's the first day I've seen it like this. I guess it's that time of year again.

Do people there speak English? I think in biggest cities like Shanghai especially young Chinese are adept at English, but at countryside the situation might be very different.

I saw the topic when I was at work but was too busy (lazy) to reply at the moment.

Nobody will speak English here. I've yet to run into anybody. For a lot of these folks I'm literally the first non Chinese person they've ever seen in their lives. Actually there's a Vietnamese woman here married to a local Chinese man. Mail order bride type situation. We found that out when registering at the police station. I'm the first white most of these people have ever seen in person.
