When you eat meat and you really think about it, what makes it hit is that it was alive. That’s it. That’s the whole thing. If it was just some fake stuff, it wouldn’t feel the same at all.

You bite into it and there’s this rough, solid feeling like yeah, this is real food and somewhere in your head there’s this simple thought: this used to move. That thought makes it feel more satisfying, not worse, just more primal.

It always makes me feel so satisfied and feral to see a blood drop from the meat I buy.
