I’m getting class 2 elastics on my canines connected to molars I have heard that these can recess your maxilla by pulling back on your upper teeth but I have also heard that they can push your mandible forward I’m not gonna make any final decisions without advice from some of you guys who might know a lot about the topic.

Your orthodontist if they are not retarded knows more than anyone here. Ask them
