Elastics for overbite?

I have a slight overbite and my orthodontist is trying to get me to wear elastics in order to fix it alongside Invisalign. I've heard that the elastics retract your upper jaw, should I still get them?

I've also had no prior teeth extractions if that matters.

how big is your overbite in mm

I’m not sure but my overbite isn’t noticeable from the side and the top tooth only comes down about a 1/3 or less of the bottom teeth
