just to be a lighter shade of brown. the pretty boy archetype, especially the more ‘fem’ version of it doesn’t work if you’re shit skinned. only works if you’re pale because the paleness itself carries connotations: feminine, fragile, delicate, even innocent. it’s socially acceptable. desirable, even to dress that way because of the contrast the skin gives to the clothes you’re wearing
