Your conscious mind is above all emotions. Especially as a man.
Think about it: your conscious mind makes a decision to go to the gym everyday. One day you're sad; does that change your ability to go to the gym? No, your conscious mind is above that. The next day you're angry about whatever, does that change your ability to make choices? No.
Emotions simply don't matter. They are simply an interesting tidbit to take note of. As long as you know you have free will there is no relation to your choices and your emotions.
