u feel empathy towards people that are lower than u which feed into ur ego
sorry bro but it's the complete opposite

Empathy comes from the feeling or thought of, like putting yourself in the other person's shoes as if it was you

It's like, for example, if you have an alcoholic father, you're more likely to feel empathy for another guy who also had an alcoholic father.

I think you confounded with altruism maybe

But it's scientifically proven that human beings are more likely to feel empathy for people who are like them

no it's litteraly not that bro

it's one of my only class I can flex about ur not going to stole this shit from me by saying bs

no A white man is more likely to feel empathy for another white man. A black man is more likely to feel empathy for another black men, because empathy is more probable if there is similarity between the 2 ppl

if you see a ducks with a broken leg and you want to help him it's mostlikely altruism even if you can imagine yourself with a broken leg, you can hardly imagine yourself as a duck

empathy think about = " What if it were me in that situation? " The easier it is to imagine yourself in the other person's place, the more it's empathy

altruisme ="the need to help" you don't need to feel the same emotions or imagining yourself in his shoes🚫

That's why when you're watching TV and there are little African children, your mother says to your father,

"Honey, look at these little African kiddo they have nothing to eat, we have to give them money ."

and your father say
"no why would I ? they are not my kid bitch ? "

And your mother says, "Put yourself in their place, you have no empathy."

and your father say : na brah

And then your mother comes out with the final argument: "What if it were our children?"

and now your father say " ya you rite brah"

ok now I realize it's lowkey a bad exemple since the father identify himself as the father of the African kids not the kids

btw if you wanna know how people see you then look in the mirror and try your hardest to convince yourself that you are not the person you are looking at

You’re right but given the forum we’re on there’s a 99% chance it’s for the wrong reasons and you’re actually just trying to justify being an edgelord

It does inherently require an ego because to empathise is to put yourself into the shoes of another

Yet that idea implies that there is another
And that there is a “you”, a self, an ego

True dissolution of the ego is acknowledging that there is no self and there is no other

Wait I feel like you actually just backed up my point though.

If you're saying we only feel empathy for people who are like us or share our background doesn't that mean it's still about us? Real selflessness wouldn't need a mirror It feels like we're just using their situation to connect with something familiar which is basically the ego looking out for its own

not similar to you but like who have gone through the same things as you

more the feeling, experience n shit and less looks and all that egocentric shit

I almost agree. during instances where I feel more secure about myself I tend to think about how others aren't in the same position I am, therefore feeling empathy towards them. The more secure about myself, the more capable I am at understanding other people instead of bitching about myself. If you see yourself as a loser all the time, sure you understand what other people are going through, but you go thorugh hardship yourself so you don't have that slight guilty feeling that your security feels wrong.

Honestly I wish I had a larger ego. People putting others done for having an ego, for the most part, is just them being envious that they don't have as much self-worth as them.
