No one is selfless. Everyone fakes empathy in order to get something out of a situation. If someone is selfless and tries to be empathetic without getting anything in return (impossible but some people can appear to be like this on the outside) they get diagnosed with “major depressive disorder” or “codependency disorder“ or something which just shows even psychologists who think theyre empaths think selflessness/true empathy is just cringe.
