Im like 0% empathy 'in general', when it comes to family / friends I kinda feel something in the moment we talk / moments after, then it disappears...

Empathy is the ability to recognize and understand other people's emotions and feelings. There are two types of empathy, cognitive empathy and affective empathy.

Empathy is the most important ability to defend, survive and compete socially. Most psychology text books are so wrong about the dark triad, that the "evil" manipulators ( psychopaths, narcissists and machiavellians) dont have empathy. In fact, you need superb empathy to manipulate other people properly. Otherwise, you dont know how to give the best flattery and compliment, or the most hurtful insults.

Those that say empathy is a bad trait just simply dont know how to deal with both their own emotions and other people's emotions.
