The greycel vs. everyone else split on looksmax.org has gotten retarded and it’s hurting the whole board.
Greycels get treated like walking NPCs. Instant DNR, “shut up grey,” “GTFIH,” hide-greycels feature memes, the whole circus. Meanwhile a lot of high-post users act like having a colored name automatically makes their takes gospel even when they’re just recycling the same cope they’ve been posting for years.
This is pure status hierarchy larping. Post count and username color are not looksmax metrics. They don’t measure bone structure, PSL, frame, height, or actual progress. They’re just time spent typing on a forum. Plenty of greys come in with better natural foundations or more recent real-world data than some of the mid who’ve been here since 2022. Plenty of high-rep users are still sub-5 coping harder than any newfag.
The division creates two problems:
1. New users who could actually contribute (or at least learn properly) get dogpiled into either silence or pure shitposting to fit in.
2. Veterans start treating every grey take as automatically wrong, which makes the board dumber because real info gets ignored based on who said it instead of whether it’s true.
Looksmaxxing is supposed to be about results, not forum caste. If a grey posts a legit question or a solid observation, answer it or ignore it on the merits. If a high-post user is coping or wrong, call it out the same way. DNR culture and “greycels are all retarded” are just inverted status games that keep the board stuck in the same loops.
Practical suggestions that wouldn’t require staff intervention:
• Stop leading with “shut up grey” or “DNR” as the first reply. Address the content.
