Hello, does anyone have any good recommendations for books that are able to introduce me to key concepts regarding endocrinology and then is able to further explore the effects of certain hormones on the body?

I've been doing research on biochemical pathways such as:
PI3K/AKT activation into mTORC1
UPS
AMPK
Myostatin/activin

The reason for this is to help me understand what stimulates protein synthesis, what regulates energy expenditure and what can suppress growth

I do have a basic understanding of hormones responsible for controlling blood glucose concentration and blood water potential, however, I have very limited knowledge on steroid hormones.

Hence, I would prefer the book/s to have a heavy focus on sex steroids and corticosteroids

Also I would like to learn about the HPTA axis.

Claude ai suggested these books for me and I am curious if anyone on this forum has read any of the four.
  • Endocrine Physiology - Patricia Molina
  • Molecular Endocrinology - Franklyn F. Bolander
  • Williams Textbook of Endocrinology - (multiple editors; commonly cited as Melmed et al.)
  • Sport and Exercise Endocrinology - Anthony C. Hackney

I agree 100% and that is what I've been using for the majority of my studies.

However I'm hoping to find a book that has streamlined the content for me so I don't have to jump from source to source as it does get a bit annoying, and also half of the time I'm using online textbooks so I thought I may as well try find a good quality textbook to read from irl
