think of it like you just missed the subway, and you know it either took the left or right tunnel but you're not sure which, so you start sprinting down the right tunnel but it actually took the left tunnel so now you have to waste all that energy backtracking before you can even get going in the right direction
or you want to go somewhere but a mountain is in your way so you start hacking away at it with a pickaxe without knowing there was a tunnel already dug through the mountain a few miles to the south
or you climb up a hundred flights of stairs to get to a party at the top of a building without knowing there was an elevator and by the time you get there the party's over
or you're trying to find your way around NYC using a map of LA
shit would be so much easier if you just always knew the proper course of action in the first place
