Erdafitinib is a cancer drug that works as an FGFR3 inhibitor. Normally FGFR3 slows down bone growth by limiting how cartilage cells multiply in the growth plates. By blocking this the drug can allow these cells to divide faster and turn into bone quicker, which might lead to greater bone lengthening than what is possible with standard methods.
Unlike gh, which helps people reach their genetic height limit, this type of inhibitor can potientially push forwards and beyond that ceiling. It does so by keeping growth plates open longer and accelerating elongation. Many consider it a stronger + more affordable option in comparison to treatments like Vosoritide, especially when combined with gh and aromatase inhibitors like exemestane to delay plate closure.
this study (https://karger.com/hrp/article/98/6/753/910964/Accelerated-Linear-Growth-during-Erdafitinib) shows that erdafitinib can trigger a real growth response. The patient was on it for a low-grade brainstem tumour, and six months in he hit a dramatic growth spurt, one that wasn't down to puberty, changes in his gh treatment, or weight gain.
