I'm not going to pretend like I have a hard or even uncomfortable life, however I sometimes find myself bored by the routine, dull nature of reality. In my experience, the two greatest forms of escapism are film and sleep. In regards to film, I'd say I watch at least one movie per day, sometimes two. I don't have a specific genre I like (I do enjoy thrillers), but film of all types and eras provides a fantastic way to temporarily exit our boring, often menial and unfufilling lives. Sleep is another fantastic way to escape. I sleep roughly about 8 or 9 hours a night, and try to nap for 45 minutes a day. However, that's not really the fun part in regards to sleep. I love dreaming with a passion. To try to maximize my dreaming, I set an alarm 30 minutes prior to when I get out of bed and snooze is 3 times (10 minutes each). Doing this is a foolproof method to provide me with at least one solid, albeit short, dream (I never really have nightmares doing this in the morning). I'm interested to hear if anyone else has good methods of escapism I can try.
