This video made me reflect a lot

I think about all the men who died in wars, how quickly they are forgotten.

How short our life is in comparison to the cosmos.

How even from a destroyed place, green and life can flourish if given the time to heal.

Years of being raised by their parents, months of training, hours of preparation, only to lose it all to one bullet within the fraction of a second.

Brain is a little less fried, so responding now.

Been thinking of when I'm actually get into a relationship recently, and that line of thought naturally leads to child rearing and my eventual death. I don't think anything else save for religion and having children could really give me any comfort in death. Religion for the hope of returning to something after everything is over, and children for keeping all my shit going. Could just be me being way too attached to living.

I want a personal eternity. I could care less about legacy and recognition, I only want the things that matter to me to continue influencing the world (which would be my children in death). As for myself, I only care to stay conscious. Unconsciousness is terrifying.

My daydreams are just the everyone I know getting raped/beaten and me screaming and fighting, and NOT in a heroic fashion...

Ahahahha

I'm actually going military myself so here's to hoping I don't get deployed anywhere.

When thinking about legacy, the first thing is to accept the inevitability of death.

It is an inherent part of life, and resisting this reality only leads do sadness.

Instead of fearing death, I believe in focusing on living a virtuous and good life in the present.

Pursuing things that we can control.

The desire to perpetuate your influence in the world through your children is understandable and probably of a lot of users, but we can't forget as well that that the future is uncertain, our children aren't something that we can control, we may be very good parents but their behavior is not guaranteed to keep our values going.

As for the idea of a “personal eternal”, as we accept death, we need to remember that our conscious existence is finite and well, we've been with out for billions of years.

"I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.” Mark Twain

Just remember, we are going to die, and we're the lucky ones, because a lot of people won't die because they weren't even born.

True immortality I believe lies in the influence we leave on the lives of those we touch, whether through our actions, words or teachings. Also the video gave a perspective on how even though we'll be long dead, the cosmos will make use of our physical body, it may even be beautiful in a way lmao, we believe our body is ours, but it never was... It will be soon taken back from us, something that it gave us so freely.
