There is no such thing as inherently "unattractive" genes, unless they are mutations which actively harm the health and wellbeing of a person. There is nothing medically inherently wrong with being 5'5 as a guy, its not some kind of debilitating disease which slowly breaks down your bones or muscles, or gives you adverse health effects.

Nature first and foremost, cares about genes existing at all, without genes in general, species can literally NOT exist as a whole. Then afterwards, after a pool of genes has been established with replaceable replacement rates, nature than INCETIVIZES females to pick the best genes amongst the rest of the genes in the gene pool, to reproduce with, so that those genes will be available to next generation of offspring, in their genepool, while at the same, trying their best to not reproduce with genes considered "less than ideal" so that those genes can die off and be left behind and so that the population will be more "fit" as a result.

This is what the literal true scientific definition of hypergamy is. Since obviously genes which are considered "better than the rest" will always be only a segment of the amount of genes in a gene pool, this plays out into real life of females "haremzing" themselves around the few available chads who are clearly expressing those ideal genes with their physical appearance.

But this does not mean that nature than on the opposite, "decentivizes" men with less than ideal genes from reproducing, because if that was the case, the nature would've done something like giving uglier men less libido or something, making them not want to reproduce, (hint hint, it didnt).
