Yeah Russians are extremely patriotic another reason why we'd get our asses kicked by them, think of the sickle and hammer as Russias Gadsden flag.
Unlike The US or UK Russia is not strict when it comes to capbadge policy, they care more about beret colour, so some soldiers swap out their capbadge for the Old Soviet Army badge.
