"But does it djent?", "But can you play it faster?", Shred wars, Stevie T, Kmac, all this crap that makes you regret picking up the guitar.
They don't even take it seriously anymore, most new guitar stuff you find sound like video game music or an elaborate troll. They don't give a fuck about writting music because noone gives a fuck about music to begin with.
The music industry is dying. There will never be new Metallica, there will never be new Megadeth, there will never be new Nirvana.
But the biggest reason that guitar is becoming a meme, is because good looking guys DON'T play it anymore. If a dude is good looking, he becomes a singer and learns how to play Autotune or doesn't even bother with music.
Dave Mustaine, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Christ Cornell, guys that look that good, nowdays, they wouldnt be musicians.
And because gl men don't play music, only ugly dudes become musicians, they write songs with lyrics, get 0 success because women don't give a fuck, so they give up on conventional song writting and start with the shred/djent/progressive stuff and because they don't make enough money, they start making memes and humoring their own profession.
