Every time I start a conversation with someone I regret it instantly

I start a small talk conversation with someone just to kill the time and then realise this is about to be an agonising 10 minutes of pretending to be nt and that id rather just sit in silence.

Then the next minute of the conversation is kinda just me tryna awkwardly end the conversation and them not getting the message.
