Ever since I picked up long-distanc running, the benefits have been unbelievable. There’s something powerful about an early morning 10k watching the sunrise as you hit your stride, feeling the dopamine kick in, and noticing how your stress just melts away. I haven’t missed a sunrise in over four years, and running has become a ritual at this point.

What makes long-distance running different is that it’s something you can actually train for and see consistent progress. Back in high school I spent months trying to get faster at the 100m and 200m sprints. I worked on technique daily but after a point nothing matey. My times plateaued no matter how hard I trained. Sprinting is heavily dependent on genetics either you’re built for it or you’re not.

Endurance is different. It is also dependent on genetics but you can atleast train for it and see some meaningful improvements. Learning how to breathing, building mental toughness and finding your rhythm. Almost anyone can do a 10K run in under an hour. These skills also translate directly to real life. I’m calmer, more disciplined, and less drained even during long workdays. It also burns a crazy amount of calories.

You don’t need anything fancy to start. Just a decent pair of shoes and the will to show up in the morning. The road is always there.

Oh I forgot to mention there's also an entire community of runners that you get introduced to when you start running in the morning. I already have made friends in my runs. Good way of socializing

Sprinting is way better. Even if you can’t be competitive I’d rather do short 100-200m dashes multiple times than a long distance run.

I improved my times greatly at school, but it may just have been me unlocking my potential through puberty and weight loss.

Why would anyone do this, look at all long distance runners, besides that one image of a chad running in jeans.

Fucking brainwashed slave

I'd rather sit on my balcony and look at the sunrise while smoking a cig and drinking a coffee
