It's only cringe because they approach girls who haven't given signs that they actually want to be approached. Because PUA is cringe we could think that talking with strangers has to be cringe also but not if the girl makes long eye contact with you first or if you are at a social event where it's socially acceptable to talk to new people, so that's basically the key to make friends and meet women. Good game is just a set of techniques to convey the SMV you already have to women. It is most effective if you are already attractive to women but cant convert that attraction into sex/LTRs.

The heartiste/krauser style is loosely based on mystery method (Which is worth reading btw. Short, not badly written, interesting even though lots of it is kind of goofy. The fundamentals will help you if you struggle during interpersonal interactions with women. Those who maintained eye contact with you for over 10 seconds were so attracted to you that you could have walked up to them and said almost anything, you could have been super direct by introducing yourself and starting a conversation. However, when they look at you for less than 2 seconds, usually, an indirect approach is better and less creepy, and has a higher success rate because if she only looked at you for less than 2 seconds, then there is a chance that she isn't interested, the longer the eye contact, the more she is attracted to you.

Also, sometimes girls will not even notice you because they are focused on something else but if you approach them they will actually like it if they are attracted to you, you can tell by their attitude and mood when you talk to them, if they smile a lot even though you didn't make eye contact earlier, that's another big sign of attraction.

Indirect is much longer than direct but it's a good idea when you don't know if the girl actually likes you.

Direct is when you start talking about her right away after approaching her. A good opening line for especially when you don't know if she likes you or not would be: "Do I know you from somewhere?" It works because since you have been looking at each other for many seconds, she will either believe the opener because it fits well with the context or she'll be able to tell that it's just an excuse to talk to her but either way, it works because through eye contact she would have already shown that she likes you and if she didn't, then she'll reply negatively to the opening line.

From my experience, multiple looks > being stared by girl. For example, if a girl looks at me for 5 seconds without smile it doesn't always mean she likes what she sees. I said hi to a girl who were staring at me and she made a face expression like she saw a shit.
