Being first = your reply gets viewed the most = highest chance for reps.

I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of these user's posts are just quick snipes at being first.
On a post of mine about Luigi Mangione:

Ofcourse, they don't care about the actual contents of the post, or whether their reply is even connected, they just care about quick reps. For a roughly 3.5 rep to post ratio.
Nobody enjoys this, not the posters, not the actual readers, this is ruining the forum.
