Open your mouth slightly and relax all your facial muscles. Then only bite down, without using any muscle other than the masseter.

If your lips don't close entirely, over.

I do this and it’s like 1 or 2 mm apart then they start to pull together like magnets

Some people might think they might have good lip seal while in reality they are using their mentalis muscle (just not enough to notice)
