Explain as if you were talking to someone who has not left his home in 3 years

people just leave them on the street without padlocking them or anything? im assuming there is a reason they are confident that they can't be stolen?

Idk maybe. But I just see them parked everywhere these days. Outside homes, abandoned on the road, in bushes, etc.

wtf are they
Which picturr do they look closest too

go and find out

It looks like an ebike. You can steal them but a lot of them are tracked
Hmm.

Still doesn't make sense why everyone just leaves them laying on the street with no padlocks or anything. There has gotta be more to it

i think those are the bikes that have locked pedals and you have pay thru an app to unlock

Do they charge per miles driven or something?

Do they expect you to input your card details to the phone thingy attached?

What if it gets hacked?

Ahhhh i have so many questions. is there a name for this shit? ive typed ebikes no luck

Can’t speak for England but the ones I’ve seen around NYC, it’s connected to an app so you’d do cash app or smth to pay

Screen is like taxi screen

Its not private person who owns them usually. Are they all the same colour n look the same? Then it could be a ebike company like "Voi". You open them n rent them with a QR code and pay with your phone

So if i see one outside someone's house can i just take it or can you reserve them or something

It depends on if it is a company public ebike or a private person who owns them. If its a private persons ebike then thats theft. If it's a company's ebike then you can't use them without paying through your phone anyway so there would be no point in stealing one. Also the company ebikes if you steal one then they can be tracked and you would get caught. If you pay through your phone n rent then it's okey I guess even if someone has put the bike on their yard

But usually people don't bring them to their yard at home atleast I never seen that. Most people rent n ride with them for 5 or 10 minutes then they leave them once they arrived to their destination that they wanted to reach

If you see a Voi outside someone's house you can pick it up n rent it yes.

I guess the person who placed a voi outside their house must have been some moron lol..

Do you live in Sweden? They have many ebikes here that you can rent

Are those ebikes red and look like this?

Then it's a Voi. You can drive them anywhere you want but you're not allowed to park them on private property (that would be theft) such as the home yard.

Parking them on the streets sidewalk outside of your house is still allowed though because that counts as being parked on public property (street side walk). They need to be accessible to others who wanna rent too.
