Dad is something like 5’6-5’7 (haven’t asked) and mom is even shorter. I’m 5’11.5. How tf did this happen? Is parents height Even relevant when looking At how tall someone will be? Is it all lottery?

Have you heard about regression towards the mean before? Basically you tend to regress towards the mean of the population. If the average IQ is 100, but your parents both have 120. You'll regress downwards to 100. If both your parents IQ are 80, you'll regress upwards of 100 (since 100 is the population mean of your race/population or whatever).

If 5'11 is the average height for your population (country and race), but your parents are way shorter, you'll be taller than them with a high probability.

You also have genetic recombination, genes being on or off, etc. Maybe you inherited a tall gene that wasn't properly expressed by your dad, or granddad or whatever. Maybe their growth was stunted because of hard financial times and bad nutritions, so their genetic potential wasn't maximized, etc.

It could’ve been that your parent’s grandparents or uncles/aunties were tall. Height isn’t only influenced by the height of your parents.

You see, IQ accounts for that regression. There is a max score, which the highest IQ person will get, and then average/median score. Regardless, there is not much regression anyway, if anything, the gap is widening, because there is much to learn, that the smart people can learn, that retards can't.
