What Is The Character Connection Complex?
It's the idea that people tend to attribute more positive qualities with those that they haven't interacted with due to their mind conjuring up a preconceived idealist version of said person in their mind.
The complex also asserts that oftentimes once people have wiped away any preconceived notions, they have a more negative outlook on reality (you)

The assumption of one's attractiveness being offset by some else preconceived notions may be true, but depending on prior connection you have, there are other things that need to be taken into account:

The same rule can be applied to opposite scenarios.
