Normie take, but it’s true. Of course as men, we do still have to acknowledge that we’re always going to be competing whether we like it or not. I’m not saying to completely isolate yourself from the competition, nor be uniformed about who you’re competing against. Humans are social creatures, so it’s natural at some level, we’re going to always crave external validation. However, crave external validation in a pragmatic way to advance one’s career or increase the chances of finding a good women. Otherwise, it’s pretty futile, and you’ll be insecure and digging yourself into a hole further. Of course, you should still feel superior to most men internally since we’re a species bound by competition at the end of the day, but don’t let it define who you are. Caring too much about the external validation, is like a drug addiction. Once you start consuming external validation in large amounts (hypothetically), you’ll want more and will never be satisfied. Furthermore, it’s possible that you’ll feel empty inside because there is nothing after the constant praise you get by society for your good looks. While it’s true that Chads are happier on average than most people, I’ll be willing to bet that some of them are sick from all the validation they get on a daily basis. Regardless, it’s important to have your internal motivation for self-improvement, since if it’s all for external validation, it’s not gonna last, or you’re gonna be too insecure to acknowledge your shortcomings. You should at the end of the day be content with you authentic self, regardless of whatever society thinks of you.

What you describe is a covert narcissist.

What you describe is a covert narcissist.
Narcissism isn’t inherently bad. Just be a self-aware narcissist or one that knows he’s innately superior, but secure in his own abilities. Be confident, but not bound by external pressure.
