Extremely valuable information on what to do and what not to do as a teen going trough the first years of puberty (14 years old and below)

TLDR
  • Do not restrict your nutrition in order to lean down or attain hollow cheeks.
  • Sleep at least 8 hours per night.
  • Do not inject anything in your body, do not modify anything in your body.
  • Do not take compounds or roids.
  • Workout and take care of yourself (ex: hygiene, skincare).
  • Eat a full, healthy, natural, balanced and varied diet. Do not cut out nutrients.
INTRODUCTION
It has come to my attention that a lot of young teens worry about their looks and their potential, which is not bad, the things they want do do/are doing is the dangerous part. From bone mashing eyes for a positive canthal tilt, to considering surgery, actually injecting ozempic, preparing to take roids, etc. the list goes on. Going trough with such ideas at a young age is almost certainly will cause irreversible harm not only to your health, but to your looks and overall appearance. In this thread, i’ll depict the main things to do and to not do during your first years of your teenage life.

NUTRITION
First of all, your body starts developing adult proportions during your puberty. The age at which puberty begins ranges from 9 to 14 years old, with the average age being 12. During these years, it is NECESSARY to provide enough nutrients for your body to grow. Your diet has a huge impact on your growth. Quite often, young teens, in a pursuit of hollow cheeks or a define jaw, follow a grown man’s instruction about prioritizing certain foods while restricting other. Obviously, elevating the intake of certain healthy foods can often be beneficial. The harmful part is restricting others. A prime example: fat. Most people have a negative association with the word fat, because let’s the honest, we all desire a chiseled jaw with a lean but built physique. However, fat is detrimental to your body’s health and growth. Is it an important nutrient to ensure the body is functioning properly and limiting its intake will harm you. Same thing goes with carbs, fibers, sodium or any other nutrient present in natural foods. In retrospect, make sure you eat enough food (no calorie deficit), following a healthy and VARIED diet.

SELF-CARE, WORKOUTS AND RECOVERY
Now that your nutrition is no longer being neglected, let’s talk about taking care of yourself and your body. Let’s start with exercise. As you’re hitting puberty, your testosterone is spiking very high. This would be the optimal time to start working out. An early introduction to the gym, if done properly, is highly beneficial for further development. Firstly, if you start working out during the start of your puberty, by the time you approach being 16-17 years old, you’ll have a solid foundation and a bank of knowledge/experience. Secondly, it has been proved many times that exercise increases testosterone, which is what you want during this determining period of your life: natural testosterone increase. Honorable mention: excess fat lowers your testosterone levels. Also, exercising will boost your overall muscle growth, making the chance of having a strong jawline higher. On top that, a thicker neck gained during workout will help achieve a more masculine and imposing look. It is very important to always warm up, prioritize form over weight and do not go for one-rep-max’s, as an injury WILL stun your growth.
As much as working out is important, it’s useless without proper rest. The muscle growth stimulus provided by the workouts is as valuable as the rest assured by sleep. Your body mostly recovers at night, making sleep a crucial actor in your muscle development and growth. Neglecting sleep will not only MAJORLY stun your growth, but will also cause mental issues/problems due to lack of serotonin production. For optimal growth, aim for 8-11 hours of sleep per night. Believe me, nobody will care how cool you were for going to bed super late when you grow up. Sleep deprivation can (and most likely will) cause: hallucinations, paranoia, memory loss, microsleeps, slurred speech, impaired motor skills, blurred vision, disorientation, mood swings, poor decision-making.
Apart from the more general aspects of your appearance, smaller things still play a big role in your appearance. A clear example: skincare. A face full of acne is repulsive. Focus on finding a skincare routine that suits you, take care of your hygiene with daily showers, clean clothes, clean bedsheets, etc. the list goes on. A clean lifestyle not only will make you look more appealing, more attractive and more approachable, but also improve your mental health, lowering your stress. Lower stress correlates with lower cortisol, which in revenge, increases testosterone levels.

SURGERY, INJECTIONS AND SUBSTANCES
The amount of young kids, ages ranging from 12 to 15 years old who are considering surgery is scary. You have to keep in mind that your body, including your facial structure will keep changing until you’re reached the age 20-21 years old. This means that every procedure you perform on your body is like betting on green while playing roulette. You will, in 99.99% of cases, mess with the way your face grows making it unappealing and ugly. Let’s take as example fat dissolving. During your youth, a lot of fat is stored on your face. However, along with the other changes happening during puberty, the amount of fat cells on your face will decrease, giving you a leaner and more defined facial appearance. If you try to rush the process by dissolving the fat, by the time you get older, your face would have changed a countless amount of times and your face will become ugly because of the procedure you’ve done a long time ago. Think of it as cutting a randomly folded paper: you almost never know what the outcome will be. Same thing with other procedures altering your facial structure.
Now about substances. Most things you see advertised on the internet will do more harm than good. The people selling the product do not care at all about your appearance, they simply want the money. Therefore, they will say whatever it takes to make you guy it. If you are just starting your puberty, you DO NOT need steroids, nor products like ozempic and such (unless prescribed by a professional). Stay away from steroids and substances artificially impacting your hormones. The misuse of such products WILL most definitely stun your grown, leaving you an underdeveloped child. ALWAYS do the full research before even considering taking ANY kind of product, especially the ones messing with your hormones. They can mess with the hormone balance, making you look terrible and/or dependent on medication.

CONCLUSION
Finally, you’re still a child. Enjoy your careless years while staying active and having a full life. Stop bothering yourself with surgeries and steroids, simply take care of yourself and your body. I hope this helps at least one person and saves them from making a permanent mistake in their life. This is my first time making a guide on this forum, so i’m very open to suggestions and constructive feedback.
