between my old computer files I have just found the link to the first guide that ever explained how to build a facepuller.
the idea of this guy was connecting a palate expander (or braces) to paper clips, which in turn are pulled forward by elastic bands
if you compare this headgear with the new facepuller designed by @CopeAndRope you can notice CopeAndRope did a great progress in the choice of the oral appliance, by using a tool which pulls the palate and the ginviva forward without touching the teeth.
another improvement by CopeAndRope is the concept of using a collar for neck arthritis (neck brace) instead of an uncomfortable american football helmet. the neck brace also helps you to maintain upper and lower teeth together and this is crucial to grow the jaw alongside the maxilla. (if you kept the bite open, the maxilla would grow whereas the jaw would remain recessed)
