Haven't been significantly active lately, luckily life has been getting me busy, so for better or for worse I haven't been checking this place as much, however I made a recent breakthrough that MAY help some people if you have the same problem as me, so I felt compelled to share it.
I kinda yap too much, so just read the TLDR, I guess.
For the longest time I thought I had an orbital floor asymmetry, and I thought that one of my eyes was actually sitting lower in my face, however whenever I tried to actually measure it I came with mixed results, in some photos it looked like my eyes were uneven, in others they didn't look uneven, in orders I couldn't tell if it was just soft tissue around my eye area playing tricks on me, but I think I finally figured it out.
Looking at a video of me showing my back, I noticed an asymmetry in my scapula, one of my shoulders was actually higher than the other, I guess I kinda knew that already, injured my shoulder a while back doing lateral raises (like 3 years ago), so whenever I lift it clicks a little and my bench press gets very uneven whenever I'm lifting over 80% 1RM. After this realization, I also started to know a few things, like how one of my traps was severely underdeveloped as well, and how this whole cascade of things (shoulder injury → uneven scapula → uneven shoulder position + uneven traps) actually was indirectly affecting my head posture, making my head tilted to one side ever so slightly, making it seem like my eyes were uneven. After doing some mobilization and targeted training for my scapula I started taking some photos at different angles and moments of the day these few days, and in none of them my face appears asymmetric anymore.
(this isn't me, but it's exactly what I had)
TL;DR - If you think your face is asymmetric, please look into your general body mechanics first, your face MAY be asymemetric, who knows, but it's worth checking out other options before considering surgery, like hydroxyapatite cement as I was. Correcting posture and body mechanics may be a slight softmaxx?
