Funnily enough JJR Tolkien hated dune. so arguably the writer of the greatest fantasy trilogy hated one of the best sci fi writers best work :lul:

My idea as to why is that dune is more ambiguous of good and evil since nobody is really the quintessential "good guy" as opposed to lord of the rings where its essentially the most cut and dry "good vs evil" story you can get. this makes sense since frank Herbert was a more Avant guard writer as he served in ww2 and took inspiration from propaganda of the time while Tolkien fought in ww1 and fought in somme. so he had a more conservative idea of "good"

technology isnt natural
ehh i wouldn't say that. technically spears and bows are "technology" as humans advance we will naturally create and discover so technology is just apart of the human existence. we cant stay in huts and tribes forever humans naturally crave to conquer and explore.

The English are the masters of the fantasy genre. LOTR and Harry Potter are peak.

Also very good at sci-fi. Christopher Nolan is probably the best director ever.

Us Jews are also incredible filmmakers. Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, etc.

Back to the Future 1 is great the rest are dog shit.
Hitchhikers is pretty hilarious.
Blade Runner is good but Harrison Ford cannot act.

Space Odyssey is of its time.
The visuals still look great but the premise of the story has been done to death in subsequent films.

Yeah but honestly thats the same with most modern cinema. its good in the way oblivion is good it was the first of its kind and its nice to go back and appreciate where most tropes stem from.

Yes, the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe 2005 is actually pretty good.
I loved as a kid it when the cavalries of both armies charge each other in the final battle at the climax of the film.

Oblivion isn't bad. I can't escape the feeling that the Elder Scrolls Universe could be so much better though.
They started dumbing it down after Morrowind.

The film series didn't survive much past Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe too.
I don't know why but I guess the later books just aren't as translatable to film media.
The Horse and his Boy would stink as a motion picture.

Hopefully in 2028 they expand upon the world and give us a game with multiple provinces and the ability to travel between them. ie being able to travel to skyrim from cyrodiil

Not happening. Cyrodil was wasted in 2006.
A proper game set at the seat of the Empire would be amazing today.

I really want the next game to be set during the second great war between the Empire and the Aldmeri dominion.
I know they'll never do it but it would be really interesting.

Bethesda is too different from the days of Morrowind and Oblivion now.
They were acquired by Microsoft in 2021. The story will give way to increased accessibility for younger audiences.
A more mature storyline would sacrafice too many demographics from a business perspective.

That was my problem with skyrim they oversimplified the format and systems for a wider audience. sadly most fans complaints will fall on deaf ears in order for the masses and the masses will shove it down like the slop guzzling pigs they're meant to be.

We saw it with the Oblivion remaster.
It's just Oblivion with a UE5 reskin and it's getting a great reception.
If it looks pretty most won't give a shit about other aspects of the game.

Sadly thats the standard for modern gaming. no soul or innovation ray tracing and ue5 with basic rpg combat and micro transactions.
