The average Algerian never has to worry about going hungry, poverty rate is under 5%, which is lower than most european countries, and average age of death is 77, which is the highest it's ever been in human history.
The french, according to documents, had a practise in which they'd find the village/town of major Algerian revolutionary leaders, and they would bring military helicopters to that village, and kill anyone they saw, and they would continue this for around 3 weeks. Algeria pre 2004 was not starving you Idiot. You don't know what happened in the black decade. And it's all because of the government cancelled the vote after The FIS (Front islamique du salut) won. The supporters of the group went to the mountains and started commiting crimes against government and civilians. Everyone who got enlisted in the army got killed after he came back. Massacres all over Algeria. Ane what did the goverment do about it. Nothing, it let it happen for 10 solid years. Why? Becasue the goverment had a big hand in the killings. One massacre happened literally 1 km away from a police station. And yet nobody heard anything.
