Comfort does not breed psychopathy it's the opposite actually.

Empathy is a luxury emotion that is most developed in places where there are abundant resources and low competition. It is only in these environments that the highest levels of empathy are both selected for and not sufficiently disadvantageous to be bred out the population very quickly.
