This seems to be floating under the radar, i did a bit of research, as I only need probably 4-5 mm of projection to reach the ideal. Chin implants have risks of infection and bone resorption (loss). Fat grafting appears to have little downtime and can rearrange the soft tissue to look better. It can also help if you have a deep mentolabial fold.
Thank you @SteveRogers for surfacing this topic btw.
So, I was curious how many mm can be added, I saw some pics with minimal results and figured you cannot add very much fat compared to bone but was suprised. Read below
For reference, most genioplasty and chin implants are around 6-8 mm. Now re the fat being squishy not bone, will quote another user
Now its estimated that only 70-80% of the result will survive after 6 months to a year so you have to plan for this accordingly. Say you need 7 mm, then you would want to do the fat grafting at 10 mm since your final result will be truly around 7-8 or even less, it all depends on how your body absorbs the fat
Now for some underwhelming before after pics.
In the above pics you can see that even 1 week post op, he already lost some of the initial gains, he needs like 4-5 more mm. and it would only go down more in 6 months time.
from just rhino and fat injections to chin
It did stretch out her skin a bit since you can see in the after, her jawline is slightly visible whereas before it was zero
Rhinoplasty & Fat Transfer to Chin: Six Months Post-Op
Now for some pretty good results!
Prob gave him 10 mm, but this is immediately after and apparently only 70% of the result will be there after a year. So in the end he probably only gets 7 mm

What Is The Best Way To Improve A Really Deep Labiomental Fold?
- A: The best procedure I have found to correct a really deep inverted-V type labiomental fold is a dermal-fat graft placed through an intraoral approach where the graft is placed directly under the released skin crease but above the muscle. This will also help the lower lip incompetence.Thank you @SteveRogers for surfacing this topic btw.

The study included 42 patients: 32 women and 10 men, average age 28 years. The average amount of fat transferred was just 7.5 milliliters. The researchers used a 3D imaging technique to measure the amount of increase in chin volume and the amount of forward (sagittal) projection.
Four weeks after fat grafting, the chin volume increased by an average of 8 milliliters. While there was some resorption of the transferred fat cells, after six months the average increase in chin volume was still 7.4 milliliters. On average, about 82 percent of the injected fat survived.
The 3D measurements showed a similar pattern of improvement in chin projection, with an average increase of about 9 millimeters at four weeks and 7 millimeters at six months. Complications were uncommon and mild. Three patients returned for additional injections to gain a further increase in chin projection.
The study shows that fat grating for chin augmentation provides "consistent and predictable results."

the squishy-ness isn’t a concern; I feel my gf’s chin and it’s literally a catfish; she has a perfectly projected fairly tall feminine chin, but it’s mostly fat jfl, like it’s squishy, then I feel my own and it’s hard as rock, so it’s not really an issue, some people have more fat there. Also, there’s really no other way to fix mentolabial folds other than fat.
