I had a consult for infraorbital implants from a well-known .org surgeon. They seemed pretty confident after reviewing my CT that fat grafting would be the right course of action instead (they don't even do fat grafting themselves). I went on to ask them if cantho/lower lid retraction would be a good idea to address my lower lid as well -- to my surprise, they suggested that fat grafting could raise the appearance of the lower lid independently without the need for eyelid surgery (in my case at least).
Now I'm scheduled with the Thai clinic for undereye-periorbital fat grafting within the next couple weeks. Originally, I just wanted to restore my eyes from age-related fat loss before potentially getting a canthoplasty + lower eyelid retraction ... but thinking about just asking for a fat graft to raise the lower lid in this session with 20% overcorrection instead of getting eyelid surgery altogether.
Thoughts?
