while it has been mocked for being a "dumb" ideology fatalism isn’t just a poetic mood it is the structural reality of the human condition. we like to believe we have a choice in our lives and somethings we do but most of it is predetermined

consider the moment you were conceived you didn’t choose your parents, your genetic predispositions or the economic status of your birth. You didn’t choose the era you were born into or the specific dialect you speak. these are fixed variables hence why looksmaxxing and spawnpoint pill exists

this is the part where fatalism is considered a joke. critics will say "but what if we work harder bro or trust the process dude:feelsuhh:" the general public plays make believe by saying they would have escaped their circumstances through grinding but look at the data. modern social mobility is stagnant. the architecture of modern society is designed to keep you in your lane. while people like to also cope by saying the structure is corrupt, the system isn’t broken infact it’s working exactly as intended (this is what differs the 1st and the 3rd world stuff doesnt just happen wildly and unexpectedly)

then there is your biological clock. Your neurons are firing in patterns dictated by your genetics and your past experiences. Your emotions are chemical reactions. your desires are manufactured by a culture and an environment that you were raised in. people rarely ever think outside the box its mostly derivatives from your culture, environment and what you expose yourself too. even the decision you think you made freely in the last second was likely determined or influenced by the sum of every previous moment leading up to it.

Fatalism acknowledges this determinism not as a curse but as a liberation from the tyrannical blame of fellow humans however this isnt a thread for you to fuck up your life and blame it on such factors ive mentioned

This is why the pratfall effect ( the effect where if a person deemed as perfect in whatever field such as looks, unrivaled genius or physical strength messes up and gets seen as a geuiuine person) hits the poor loser so hard. when they stumble or fuck up society melts, judges less harshly or cope by making those people seem relatable but fatalism reveals that their stumble was likely caused by the weight of the world they are carrying not their own inadequacy. It’s a narrative choice

We live in a world of cause and effect, where every action has a reaction, and every reaction is the precursor to another action. We are caught in a web of interconnected events that stretch back to the Big Bang. To say "I could have done otherwise" is to ignore the infinite complexity of the universe that conspired to make "this" happen and nothing else.

While fatalism is simplified by idiots as "just give up its all over anyways broo :feelsuhh::feelsuhh:"
real fatalism isn’t passive. It’s the clear acceptance that you are part of a flow. You can still act, still strive, still love. But you do so without the arrogance of thinking you are the center of the universe. You act because you must, not because you are guaranteeing a specific outcome and that makes simple tasks easier it helped me interact with people and achieve my goals without the pressure of it.

The sad part of modern life is that we are sold the myth of control the public is told that if we just optimize our sleep, our diet, our finances, and our mindset, we will be masters of our destiny and the few that drift into looksmaxxing are told to eat raw meat smash their face in or pin bathtub chemicals to mog or ascend (im not saying it doesn't work but at the same time it rarely does)

this isnt a thread to change your beliefs overnight but just to clear the air about fatalism as it is a very hard thing to wrap your head

fatalism is the quiet dignity of knowing your place in the grandness of existence fighting against the natural greed people have (the urge to get more than they deserve or need) which is why fatalism is hated on

i disagree that its cope. again you should FEEL free even though intellectually we understand free will doesn't exist
like, you see socialists justify someone being poor by saying that it was all determined by environment, and we know that socialists are the biggest copers ever and those who believe in free will they just wanna be the causa sui (which is rly high T)

very high iq post.

the universe is a predetermined equation solving itself in the exact sams way over and over, time is a flat circle.

I believe its plausible the second you die you simply come out of your mother's womb again and it all starts over, in the exact same way.

I initially had this realization from lsd and it shattered my will to live at first, over time I've come to see that acceptance of your reality and choosing to live despite is the only action you can possibly take under these circumstances.

I don’t think accepting limits has to mean treating choice as fake.

Also calling everything predetermined feels like a way to remove the pressure of making choices.

Saying ‘the universe decided this’ is just a comfortable way to avoid responsibility for the next decision. Fatalism isn’t deep; it’s fear dressed up as acceptance.

I agree with most of the ideas that fatalism ideology has, but I admit that fatalists tend to be more pessimistic than what would be ideal

theres different sects of fatalism though and it falls into different branches youre right that fatalism can be a comfortable retreat but that’s a critique of cowardly fatalism not the concept itself. stoic fatalism doesn’t say “nothing matters" it says “only your response matters" which actually increases responsibility because you can’t blame circumstances or luck for your character. the pressure you feel to “make the right choice” is an illusion of control infact fatalism frees you to make any choice with full commitment

true those ones simplify fatalism because they only know the summary of it to be pessimistic is basically going against fatalism if you think about it tbh and no you shouldnt rot with your life but fatalism should make you feel free to do such endeavors

It doesn’t really matter what determined my desires to me. What matters is that I can act according to my desires to change the environment to get what I want. To control is to act according to and achieve our desires, so we can still have control even in a fatlistic universe.

how could you change your environment or cultural factors that influenced said desires if it wasnt already premeditated for you to leave and achieve your goals?

If the outcome was certain before you made it then you had no genuine alternative possibility therefore it is technically predetermined eh?

Sure but it was my decision procedure, my taste, which drove the change. You can say my taste was determined, but I literally don’t care if it was or wasn’t. I’m in control either way. That’s what I meant by my first post in this thread.

Control doesn’t require multiple choice, only the presence of my deterministic decision procedure.

Also I don’t see how determinism implies automaticity, we are still involved in the process since we are physical beings.
