nihilism is cope and shitty ideology, just read what nietzsche has to say

"Accelerationism is a range of ideologies that call for the use of capitalism and associated processes to create radical social transformations."

op was talking about philosophies pertaining to the meaning of life, accelerationism is at most a political philosophy or theory, it really has nothing to do with actual essence of life but rather a reactionary response to modern day capitalism and history

think about it for a singular minute you retarded indian "ya broo i think the meaning of life is to like accelerate capitalism and shieett"
so if you were born 300 years earlier your entire meaning falls apart, while actual philosophies that relate to life can be applied to any time period because their metaphysical

Marx himself said he was not a philosopher.
When he wrote Das Kapital it wasn't made to obtain the freedom of workers or suppose a communist future, he just made an economic theory of capital based on struggle of social classes.

Accelerationists are usually leftover anarchists or even libertarians. In the case of the left, it's the left that has given up entirely. Right libertarians are accelerationists by definition.

Accelerationism is a philosophy because it systematically addresses those: what is capitalism (an autonomous accelerating force), what is time/history, and how should we respond (accelerate it). Just because it breaks from Marxism doesn't make it 'not philosophy'

so how does that make it a philosophy didnt explain anything:lul:
you said it yourself its based on political systems, therefore it would be a political theory or at most a political philosophy
the definition of philosophy is

philosophy

/fĭ-lŏs′ə-fē/

noun

  1. The study of the nature, causes, or principles of reality, knowledge, or values, based on logical reasoning.

acceleration uses values and logical reasoning, but its not primarily addressing that, its primarily addressing our political systems

No such thing as a philosophy without the core elements of what philosophy is: aesthetics, epistemology, morality, politics, antropology. If you somehow asked all accelerationists any topic they would all answer different because it's not systematic. It's just a political philosophy like all the others, an ideology based on random facts from reality to push some agenda.

literally if i used ur own definition, it qualifies as a "philosophy" perfectly. accelerationism studies the nature of reality (capital as an inhuman accelerating process), knowledge (hyperstition, cybernetics), and values (should we accelerate or resist). it uses logical reasoning to make fundamental claims about all three.

just because it has political implications doesn't make it ONLY a political theory, same as Marxism or liberalism. ur distinction is arbitrary and futile to point out

ok i think you just don't understand what accelerationism actually is, so i don't think i can argue with you further. have you read any texts by Nick Land? or do you think it's just some niche tiktok edit cult?

because it sounds like ur arguing against a vague strawman. it does systematically address epistemology, ontology, morality, anthropology, and politics. what's ur understanding of it? can you give me a quick run down in ur own words? just what you know of it so far

Can you give a definition on what a human is, what is work, what is family, art and so on? From my existencialist stance, I can say all knowledge comes from the human understanding of the living world, what's called ontology is actually ontics, subdued to the purpose of the man, therefore we should treat beings as things that serve a purpose for humanity including others. There's no essence to be discovered but to be created through time.

??? accelerationism doesn't need to redefine every basic concept like "human" or "family" from scratch for it to be a philosophy. that's not how most philosophies even work. it focuses on what matters now, such as how technology and capital are fundamentally changing what a "human" even is, what "work" becomes under automation, and how family structures dissolve under acceleration. your existentialist humanism is one stance. accelerationism offers a different one, humans aren't the center, the process is. that's still systematic philosophy

yea bro capitalism is the nature of reality listen to yourself, human made system based off historical developments not the nature of reality

the only part it applies to is values, but accelerationism is applying acceleration (as contrast to resistance) towards capitalism, its not inherent of accelerationism in itself.

accelerationism is only coherent within capitalism, thats why its not a philosophy

You're fundamentally wrong. There's no philosophy without humans. You can't put an economic process in the center of knowledge, just pushing a political agenda without asking philosophical questions. You're supposing family structures, are all equal? All value the same? You say they're changing humans, now give me a definition of a human because is not changing biology right. This is why Marx said he wasn't a philosopher because he didn't plan anything, he was studying how the economic systems worked in each period of history. Max Weber also did on social classes. Foucault on social topics. Your ideas can be used when we discuss economic and social problems but can't be called a philosophy. See Foucault vs Chomsky, see who wins. Foucault losses because he is a relativist. If anything accelerationists should discuss with economists.

philosophy has never required putting humans at the absolute center. prime example is literally nietzsche. accelerationism DOES ask philosophical questions: what is a human when technology and capital reshape biology, cognition, society, etc.? what happens to family, work, and values when those forces accelerate beyond human control

its not "just politics" like you said, it's a metaphyiscal claim about reality itself. you constantly demanding a single definition of "human" misses the entire fucking point of the philosophy. accelerationism says that definition is actively dissolving. there is no single definition of "human" according to it.

bro u dont even understand what accelerationism even means

accelerationism doesn't claim capitalism is eternal "nature". it claims capitalsim is a self-accelerating process that reveals deeper truths about reality, time, and intelligence. the core idea (accelerate tendencies instead of resisting) can be applied beyond capitalism, to technology, AI, or literally any other system.

saying that it's "only coherent within capitalism" is like saying marxism isn't a philosophy because it's tied to historical materialism. it's a retarded objection. it's clear you have no idea what you're talking about JFL

Marxism is not a philosophy but a theory on political economy and historical materialism is a method of study used in social sciences.

For that reason is not a philosophy but one of many theories running around in sociology because they don't wanna ask fundamental questions and instead run from them. For example, the thing about post humanism, what is before and what is after, what has changed? Is becoming cyborgs really transforming our way of living? That answer is philosophical. Even pseudo philosophers like Ayn Rand had coherent answers for any question based just on their ideas.

marxism is widely considered a philosophy even if it also functions as a political economy. you might genuinely be the only one with this type of objection. similar with accelerationism.

ur own exaple proves the point: accelerationism does ask those fundamental philosophical questions, what is a human, what changes in posthumanism, how technology redefines existence, and whether we should embrace or resist a possible inevitable submission to AI being the superior race. thats exactly why it qualifies as philosophy, not just sociology.

I haven't read Land so I can't say if he really adresses these topics, I only know he said he made a "rebuttal on Kant" for the possibility of noumens not being able to be known. But I've read Marx not an expert on him but I can say he didn't make metaphysical claims so he isn't a philosopher. He was against german idealist philosophers for being useless and thinking along the power of the burgueoise. Marx doesn't give you a theory on humans and ethics but he did research on logic and right + explained how capitalism works for the first time.

bro im
fucking done with you, i wish your bloodline was wiped out
WHY YOUR WRONG

1. definitions
Accelerationism is a range of ideologies that call for the use of capitalism and associated processes to create radical social transformations.

philosophy

noun

  1. The study of the nature, causes, or principles of reality, knowledge, or values, based on logical reasoning.

1. first of all, i never claimed accelerationism says that capitalism is eternal nature. YOU claimed that by saying this "accelerationism studies the nature of reality (capital as an inhuman accelerating process)" when trying to apply accelerationism to the definition of philosophy

accelerationism is at most a political philosophy because it derives a normative political strategy ('we ought to accelerate') from a specific metaphysical worldview, because its essence contains politics, it MUST therefore inherently be a political idea, hence political philosophy.

anyways op was originally talking about philosophies that have an individual or ethical focus, while accelerationism is really foundational on a political focus, if you tried to live by accelerationism youd really just be living by other subsects of ethical and individual philosophy. accelerationism can only be quantified when its applied to a capitalistic system, not quantified as a moral compass for individuals
