persosnally my opinion:

pre:
pros - close social circle all there, cheap drinks, chill environment (can be chalant, namedrop, gossip, go take a shit, finish eating dinner, change fits, etc), buzzing with energy, ripping gator tails, usually have football/hockey on the TV, dye/beer pong tables are humming, still daytime
cons - usually no huzz (if there are its friends so not slayable)

bars/clubs/frats:
pros - tons of drink options, tons of people, top tier slaying opportunities, music is way louder/better and has lights/effects, frat flicking on elevated platforms, peak of buzz
cons - expensive drinks, waiting in line in the cold during the winter, tons of people we know around so have to watch what we do/say, tough to rip bumps in the stalls with bouncers around

afters:
pros - chillest vibe possible, ripping gator tails, usually have slayable huzz we brought back to the AP, mucking ubereats/doordash, humming energy if its a friday and we're going out tomorrow night
cons - most people on verge of passing out/going to bed, lost half the social circle whos going home with situationships, randos from bars/frats, shitty energy if its a saturday/school day tomorrow

i like after parties, but i dont really go to college parties and shit cuz im an ND reject, but parties are chill cuz drinks and hot chicks.

my ideal night out would be a couple early morning lectures, rip the gym in the afternoon, pick up some peruvian marching powder from the plug, hit the liqa store, get changed, start preing at 6-7pm before sunset while ripping dye/pong in the front yard shirtless with a smaller social circle of 8-10 mixed gender, transitioning to a larger pre with our situationships/huzz present and extended overlapping social circles (20-30 peoplee mixed gender) indoors with football on the TV and a DJ ripping, then rip frats from 11-1am, then rip bars from 1am onward, then transition to a AP at a huzz's house that transitions into going up to her room
