People here can't make sense of that story because "the inmate is ugly", when in reality the reason she fell in love with him is his criminal behavior. Since the dawn of humanity, women have selected men who exhibit a set of behavioral traits, and these are psychopathy, narcissism, manipulativeness, and other things that modern humans would associate with unlawful behavior. Dark triad men appeal to women's nature, while nice guys don't. It's as simple as that.
