Birth rates are collapsing globally, irrespectively of the countries' wealth.

After social, political or financial volatility people stop having children.

Some people have many children, others have 1, and increasingly many are having none.

Look up birthrates and you'll see birthrates AFTER the financial crisis of 2007 went up. In germany for example it went up from 1.33 in 2006 to 1.39 in 2010.
There's no correlation between wealth and birthrates and if there is one, it's actually a negative one meaning the poorer a country the higher the birthrate
it's all got to do with culture and the standing of women in society. That's why birthrates took a nosedive across all western countries during 2nd wave feminism in the 60s.
In non-western countries this did not happen. For example in Afghanistan birthrates didn't decrease until the early 2000s during the western occupation because the Taliban never gave women rights
