Jova’s track and size have been okay but not great over roughly the last 24 hours. It’s what we’d classify as a medium-sized storm with gale-force wind extending roughly 100 miles from the center on the storm’s northeast and southeast quadrants (the area that produces swell for SoCal). To provide a bit of context, Jova is less than half the size of Hurricane Marie in 2014. One favorable aspect is the long ‘tail’ of 15-30 knot wind in the storm’s southeast quadrant, which lengthens the size of the fetch aimed at SoCal.

Hurricane Lee was about 640 miles across, covering an area about the size of Montana, which is 630 miles wide.
