Brah I graduated with a CS degree, completed 3 internships, made money doing freelance, trained 2 ML models all on my dad's hand me down on this lg gram 14 that is 5 years old at this point and even after splurging for a mac I feel an upgrade wasn't necessary. I don't play games for me computers are just tools not trophies. My battered college machine is still kicking and I use it even now for light dev work and WSL

Arguably now. It's a good time to buy laptops. Ram prices for consumers are thorough the roof rn. Mobile manufacturers have long term contracts and place orders in bulk so they get their ram at the same price that they used to before the shortage caused by AI. There's also an SSD and GPU shortage coming soon.
