For 1 mg finasteride, the trials found sexual side effects in 3.8% of men versus 2.1% on placebo. So the additional risk associated with finasteride was about 1.7% over the first year, or roughly 1 extra person in 59.

So I got it prescribed topically, doc said it should be fine no need to worry. Still hesitant tbh, but at some point I’ll be taking it anyway, can’t go bald.

Ye true, the stuff said for post fin syndrome was pretty low. However I am very prone to placebo thinking things like, well what if it is still there I just don’t notice it and get used to it over time to a point where what I will be considering normal is very low compared to where I started. And hoppin off would just put me in the same place as before

1mg of finasteride has ruffly the same effects of 0.2mg.

Because of the fact the even 0.05mg can make a significant difference in serum DHT, the difference between topical and and oral finasteride is much smaller than many make it to be. Studies have shown that topical finasteride suppresses the serum DHT ~50% whereas oral ~70%.

There are a lot of reasons that sexual side effects can occur and not everyone has the same chance of getting them. If you are young like yourself and you are not overweight (fat can raise estrogen through aromatization) then it's very unlikely that you are going to experience something like that.

Finasteride inhibits mainly the type II 5α-reductase enzyme so you don't have to worry about neural side effects.

I personally take 0.5mg of dutasteride and I haven't experience any side effects at all. I could easily write a 10,000 word response about that topic, but that would be hard to read so if you think about starting a treatment like finasteride or dutasteride I highly recommend you checking Haircafe on YouTube, he makes very educational videos on this stuff and it always backs everything up with actual science

just take the pill and if you can’t handle it switch to topical, why be scared of such a safe medication?

I am going to be using topical. I know it’s safe, just I get pretty caught up on things where there is doubt, or where what’s being handled it’s of importance, which the penis is
