If you are below CL, you must recognise the importance of first impressions
People don't know your "true personality." They judge the version of you that you put in front of them.
Too quiet → you look awkward, scared and socially incapable.
Too talkative → you look desperate for attention.
Of course, these problems aren't an issue if you are CL. E.x. Quiet → Secure, confident
Once someone has mentally categorised you as "awkward," "annoying," "weird," "boring" or "desperate," everything you do afterwards gets filtered through that perception.
This applies to LOOKS just as much as BEHAVIOUR.
Say someone spends years being noticeably unattractive and gets treated accordingly. People make jokes at their expense, don't take them seriously, exclude them socially, or subconsciously treat them as lower status.
Then they improve dramatically.
They might go from Sub-5 to HTN.
The people who have known them for years don't necessarily update their perception at the same speed.
They don't see the new guy. They see the guy they already decided he was.
That's why ascension doesn't necessarily fix your social life overnight. You can improve your appearance and confidence while people continue treating you according to an outdated version of yourself.
Will post about my personal experience with this soon.
